A small window that is displayed in Windows. A dialogue box is normally used to display a message, which could be a warning, from the program to the user. At the bottom of the dialogue box are buttons: OK and Cancel are the two standard buttons, but there could be others depending on the message that's displayed. A simple dialogue box might report back after a search and replace and just say "replaced 23 items" with an OK button.
